The day-conference organized by the Directorate of Primary Education, in cooperation with the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute and sponsored by POED, was held with great success in the Events Hall of the POED building in Nicosia. The conference, entitled "Third Age and Ageism: Responses from Organized Education and Contemporary Thought," was attended by the Honorable Minister of Education, Sport, and Youth, Dr. Athena Michaelidou, the Cyprus Third Age Observatory, as well as education inspectors and teachers from across Cyprus.

The objectives of this specific conference included presenting educational proposals in the curriculum subjects of Health Education and Literature, focusing on older age, and raising awareness and reflection on the dimensions and implications of this issue in the contemporary world.

The Cyprus Third Age Observatory wishes to express its particular satisfaction and gratitude to both the organizers of the conference and the Minister of Education, Dr. Athena Michaelidou, for embracing the Observatory's proposals and efforts to counteract and combat ageism, bridge generational divides, and at the same time promote the creation of a culture of empathy toward older people.

The Cyprus Third Age Observatory also expressed its strong support for the initiatives and actions of the Ministry of Education, which will be extended to all levels of education.
